Outstanding Hospitals’ 4 Characteristics

The ANA’s National Database of Nursing Quality Indicators (NDNQI) showed that the “common traits of award winning hospitals included:

  1. Strong leadership
  2. Teamwork
  3. Commitment to ongoing improvement of patient care quality
  4. Continuous staff education

Additionally, the processes used to gain quality outcomes had the following characteristics:

  1. Active Nurse Involvement
  2. Visible Quality Outcomes
  3. Support for Evidence-Based Practice
  4. Promotion of Autonomy and Accountability
